Overview

RealBoard is a social network designed for schools/universities that integrates with RealLives.

Reflect, Share, Grow

This tagline encapsulates the essence of what RealBoard offers to students, teachers/professors, and educational institutions. Let’s break down each element and how it ties into the core activities of the platform

Reflect

  • Personal Reflection: RealBoard encourages students to look back on their learning experiences and think critically about what they’ve learned. Through features like the "Personal Reflection" section, students can document their thoughts, insights, and feelings about the assignments they complete. This process not only reinforces learning but also helps in developing self-awareness and critical thinking skills.

Share

  • Sharing Experiences: RealBoard provides a platform where students can share their learning experiences with peers and teachers/professors. By using Cards to upload screenshots, write posts, and share achievements within specific sections like "SDG Challenges," students are able to communicate their progress and insights in a structured yet creative way.

Grow

  • Personal and Academic Growth: The combination of reflection and sharing leads to growth—both personally and academically. RealBoard is designed to help students track their progress over time, set personal goals, and see how their efforts translate into growth.

Adding Sections

In RealBoard, Sections are components within a Board that help categorize and organize content related to assignments, projects, or topics. Each board can contain multiple sections, each serving a specific purpose or focus area.

Purpose of Sections

Sections are designed to:

  1. Categorize Content: Organize different types of content or aspects of an assignment into distinct areas for better clarity and management.

  2. Enhance Organization: Allow for a structured layout within a board, making it easier for students to find and work on specific tasks or assignments.

  3. Facilitate Specific Goals: Target different types of activities or reflections, such as project milestones, personal reflections, or SDG challenges.

Key Features of Sections

  1. Title: Each section has a Title. The title describes the focus of the section.

  2. Examples of Sections:

    • SDG Challenges: Sections focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where students can work on related challenges and document their progress.

    • Personal Reflection: Sections where students reflect on their learning experiences, share insights, and discuss their personal growth.

    • Custom Sections: Teachers/Professors can create custom sections to fit specific needs or assignments, such as group projects, research topics, or skill development.

Why We Use These Six Default Sections

In RealBoard, we have included six default sections to help both teachers/professors and students organize content effectively and promote a more structured approach to assignments. Each section is designed to target specific aspects of a student’s learning experience, encouraging deep reflection, analysis, and understanding.

While these sections are provided by default, you can edit them here during the class creation process or later in RealBoard. Additionally, once inside RealBoard, you have the flexibility to add new sections that better fit your specific class or assignment needs.

Below is an explanation of each default section:

1. About the Country

This section encourages students to explore and share important facts about their character's country of birth. It helps them research key details such as the nation’s culture, history, economy, and geography. This section is essential for building a foundational understanding of the social and cultural environment of the character’s life.

2. Personal Reflection

Personal growth and self-awareness are crucial parts of education. This section prompts students to reflect on their personal experiences in the game, especially how certain life events have impacted their character’s journey. By writing about these reflections, students can connect their in-game experiences with real-world lessons, fostering emotional intelligence and critical thinking.

3. Challenges Faced by My Family

This section helps students examine the difficulties their character’s family has encountered. It pushes students to think about real-world social and economic challenges that affect families, encouraging them to reflect on resilience, perseverance, and the support systems that help individuals overcome adversity.

4. SDG Challenges

This section connects students’ experiences to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It allows them to discuss how global issues such as poverty, health, education, and climate action are reflected in the character’s life and community. The section emphasizes the importance of local and global actions to achieve SDGs.

5. Empathy Values

Empathy is an important value in global citizenship. This section focuses on helping students understand and practice empathy, both within the context of the game and in real life. Students share stories where they or their character showed empathy, discuss the importance of understanding others' perspectives, and highlight ways to practice empathy in their communities.

6. Events Which Bothered Me

This section encourages students to discuss and reflect on events that troubled them during the game. It provides a space to share how certain situations affected them emotionally and mentally, and how they dealt with these challenges. By reflecting on these experiences, students can learn to better understand their emotions and develop coping strategies.

  1. Edit Options: Editing the section name and it's description.

  1. Create a Class: Save on confirm and create your class.

A corresponding board will be created in RealBoard for this class, and students will receive a notification.

Creating Cards

In RealBoard, Cards are individual tiles within a Section where students can document and share their work, reflections, and other relevant content. Each card represents a discrete piece of work or an individual entry related to the assignments and activities in the section.

Purpose of Cards

Cards serve several important functions:

  1. Showcase Work: Allow students to present their completed assignments, projects, or reflections in a structured and accessible format.

  2. Encourage Reflection: Provide a space for students to share their thoughts, insights, and experiences related to their tasks or learning process.

  3. Facilitate Interaction: Enable teachers/professors and peers to view, comment on, and provide feedback on the student’s work.

Key Features of Cards

  1. Title and Description: Each card has a Title and Description. The title briefly identifies the content of the card, while the description provides more detailed information.

  2. Attachments: Cards can include various relevant attachments such as Screenshots, Files, or Links relevant to the content.

  3. Comments and Feedback: Cards may have a section for comments where teachers/professors and peers can provide feedback or ask questions.

  4. Stars: Teachers/Professors can rate a card out of 5 stars based on the creativity of the card.

  5. Reactions: Students and teachers/professors can react on cards with the help of emojis.

In RealBoard, we’ve included a set of emojis for reactions to help users quickly express their thoughts and feelings about a post. These emojis— 👍 (Like), ❤️ (Love), 😂 (Funny), 😲 (Surprised), 😢 (Sad), and 😡 (Angry)— offer a range of emotional responses, allowing for a more interactive and engaging experience. By using reactions, students and teachers/professors can easily provide feedback or acknowledge a post without needing to leave a comment, making interaction faster and more fun.

How to Create a Card

  1. Open Section: Navigate to the section where you want to add a card. Click on the Add Card button.

  1. Create New Card: Click on the Add Card button.

  1. Enter Card Details:
